Our Story

The idea for Marietta Food Tours was born from our desire to taste cuisines from locally owned and operated restaurants during our travels. Our love for our town combined with wonderful experiences while on food tours during trips to destinations such as San Francisco, Chicago and Nassau, Bahamas inspired us to create Marietta’s first culinary and cultural walking food tour experience. As long time Marietta residents, we are delighted at the opportunity to impart a vast array of interesting facts about The Marietta Square’s rich history and architecture, as well as showcase its fine eating establishments.

Meet Our Team

Cecilie Benefield Founder/Tour guide

Cecilie’s background in the food service industry, as well her degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management has prepared her to be a knowledgeable and enthusiastic food tour guide. Founding a food tour business was a natural extension of her adventurous spirit and hospitable personality. She has always had a deep-seated passion for locally owned eateries and restaurants, and is excited to share her love of food and hospitality with you.

Brian Benefield Co-founder/Tour guide

Brian, a born and raised Atlanta native, worked in the restaurant business for many years. He loves to explore new and tasty dishes by patronizing local, off-the-beaten-path restaurants. Brian is a member of a men’s cooking club named Les Marmitons, where a local Atlanta chef helps them devise a menu and then they cook 4-5 courses and serve with plenty of wine too. His work as a volunteer assistant chef at a cooking school and his interest in honing his skills as a talented home cook have provided him with extensive insight into the many facets of what makes food such a universal delightful experience.
