Exciting times in Marietta Square!

Posted on August 2, 2018 |

These are exciting times for the Marietta Square and surrounding area, as we have a new brewery opening soon, a food hall market slated to open in the Fall, a fantastic bakery Sessions Stand that opened earlier this year a stones throw from the square and a new Mediterranean skewer restaurant as well.

Glover Park Brewery is sooo close to opening we can almost taste the hops and barley from our new house that’s within walking distance to the square.  The brewery is owned by longtime Marietta residents Sam Rambo and Hank Dupre, who is actually a descendant of John Glover, the park’s namesake and Marietta’s first mayor in 1852.  We run by the business almost every day and the interior looks very snazzy with abundant intricate lighting and warm wood finishes.  The beer garden in the rear will surely be filled with beer loving folks this Fall cozying up to a the warm fireplace with a cold one.  We can’t wait for the brewery to open and sample the variety of locally made beer!

http://mariettasquaremarket.com/ food hall is slated to open later this year and already have 12 eateries on board that include this impressive list:

Creme de la Crepe-French fare and crepes. Grand Champion BBQ, Forno-wood fired pizza, Bread & Butter bakery, Lucky’s Burgers & Brew, Meat in the Middle-Southern sandwiches, Momo Son Ramen, Pita Mediterranean, Street Taco, Tandoori Square-Indian street food, Tiny Bubbles Tea Bar, Top Poke-Korean fast casual.

The theme of this OTP version of Krog St. market will be a train station, complete with a restored 1922 street car that will be occupied by one of the vendors, and over 350 parking spaces will be available surrounding the market.  The brick walls are being erected on the exterior, and we see more progress each day!

Just a little something to look forward to at Marietta Square Market!

Sessions Stand bakery is just a short 10 minute walk from Marietta Square and the smell of the freshly made croissants and pastries are just divine as you get closer to this quaint little neighborhood gem.  Owned by Katie and Micah Pfister, who also operate WR Social House and The Butcher the Baker on the square wanted a community feel for this place and they certainly exceeded expectations.  They did a pop up sandwich event as well as a fish fry recently that attracted many neighbors to come together and meet each other while enjoying some delicious eats.

They have a small amount of locally grown fresh produce to include peaches, tomatoes, squash and watermelon to satisfy your summer palate.  Katie is quite creative using the spent grain from Reformation brewery in the croissants to give a nuttier flavor and the avocado toast is to die for, topped with feta cheese and arugula.  If you are an early bird, get there between 6-7am and buy a pastry and receive a FREE cup of coffee.  Just go here and feel the chill vibe, you will be glad you did.

A new spot is on the horizon just a new doors down from the http://mariettawinemarket.com/ is place named Skewers that will serve all types of meat and veggie skewers from all over the world.  The selections will include Greek, Indian, Mexican and a Korean beef bulgogi marinated skewer served with Kimchi and steamed rice.  Their signature “Marietta Square skewer”, will have charcoal grilled vegetables purchased from the Marietta Square Farmers Market.

The owner, Jean-Louis Constantinides is no stranger to the square as he once owned Blu Greek Taverna where Stockyard Burgers is now located.  They will also feature beer and wines from around the globe, so stay tuned for an opening date in the near future.
