10 Delicious Marietta Restaurants You Must Try!

Posted on October 24, 2017 |

Marietta has so many different great spots, it’s hard to feel like you’re making the right choice.  This isn’t a ranking, but a list of some of our favorites, so you can find hidden gems and make a smart, tasty choice.

10.  Marietta Food Tours

Before you decide on just one place, why not come with us and taste your way around Historic Marietta Square.  You’ll become an insider by getting to taste “off the menu” food items and also meet the owners and chefs to learn their back story too.  Hear about the history, architecture and culture of Marietta while visiting 5-7 of the best restaurants the square has to offer.  Check it out: https://www.mariettafoodtours.com/

9. Kiosco

You will feel transported to Colombia in this intimate, cozy hidden gem just off the Marietta Square.  You must try their best selling dish, the Medio Pollo al Horno, which is literally a half chicken, slow roasted and then flash fried to make the skin crispy and delicious, served with raspberry sauce and mixed veggies!  If you are craving an authentic entree, try the Bandeja Paisa- Grilled steak, chorizo, pork rinds, maduros, rice/beans and topped with a fried egg, yum!  Call for a reservation, trust us on this!  http://www.kioscocolombianrestaurant.com/

8. Australian Bakery Cafe

Come here for a traditional Aussie meat pie, a sweet Pavlova dessert or the ever so popular Fish n’ Chips.  A trained master baker, Neville Steele is always baking something tasty and loves to chat with his customers about his homeland cuisine.  We also recommend picking up a fresh loaf of bread and trying a different twist on a burger with Emu or Kangaroo meat.  We love this place, so just go!  http://australianbakerycafe.com/

7. Piastra

Just look at that mouthwatering lasagna, you know you want to eat it!  “Food is Love” according to Owner/Chef Greg Lipman, and the lasagna with scratch made pasta, 4 cheeses and a rustic, delectable pomodoro sauce is one of many examples of that on the menu.  They also make their sausages, breads and pastries in house as well.  We love their arrancini, smoked mozzerella stuffed risotto balls, breaded and deep fried, mmm!  They have brunch on Saturday/Sunday and a private room for larger parties.  https://www.piastrarestaurant.com/

6. Drift Fish House & Oyster Bar

This is an East Cobb gem not to be missed with fresh, coastal seafood cooked with traditional and wood fire techniques.  We went there recently and sat at the bar while waiting on a table and had wood roasted octopus and sampled some oysters from many locales.  Speaking of oysters, they are $1 each 4-6pm.  They really know how to cook fish here, we ordered the Salmon and Swordfish for entrees…they were cooked perfectly, moist and flaky.  Finish your meal with a Salted Caramel Sundae with bacon popcorn.  http://www.driftoysterbar.com/index.html

5. Paul’s Pot Pies

Although not a sit down restaurant, Paul’s has been around the Marietta Square for over 30 years, so he must be doing it right and we couldn’t agree more!  He offers over 12 different “flavors” of pot pies for pick up, and cook in only 45-60 minutes with the most flaky puff pastry crust you will ever taste!  Some of our favs are the classic chicken, Italian sausage and turkey is a big seller around Thanksgiving.  Take an insider tip and call ahead and Paul will bake a pie for you, so you can pick it up fully cooked and ready for your dinner table.  He can also make a half or full sheet pan of pot pie for a large party, perfect for the holidays.  http://www.paulspotpies.com/

4. WR Social House

Eat, drink and be Social is the motto here and it shows in their fresh, locally sourced menu items.  Some of our choices are the Pimento Cheese Burger, complete with a fried green tomato…fish tacos with jalepeno tartar sauce and salsa verde are delish!  They bake all the breads fresh and grind the meat in house for the burgers, so how can you go wrong?  Brunch served Saturday is quite tasty here with bottomless Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas…try the Tasso hash with a poached egg, hollandaise sauce and a fresh biscuit.  Kids eat FREE on Wednesdays, so check them out at: http://wrsocialhouse.com/

3. Spring

This is one of the best restaurants in Atlanta, and we are lucky to have it on Marietta Square.  Owner/Chef Brian So creates artisan dishes that rival any Buckhead spot.  He keeps the menu small and seasonal on purpose to only have ingredients at the peak of freshness.  Only open a little over a year, but have received many accolades to include being nominated for a James Beard award and more recently listed as #7 out of 10 best new restaurants by Bon Appetit magazine.  Start off with the chicken liver pate with blueberry jam and pickled mustard seed…for a main dish we suggest the Bacon wrapped Venison Loin, braised red cabbage and crispy kale…and try the Sweet Corn Custard with blueberries and caramel corn for dessert.  Get a reservation and enjoy a date night!  http://www.springmarietta.com/

2. Two Birds Taphouse

This relatively new hot spot has quickly become known as the “Cheers” of Marietta Square, and for good reason.  They feature a shared plate, elevated menu that has local, Southern ingredients.  A rustic environment and friendly, knowledgeable servers will suggest one of their seasonal cocktails or a local craft beer…they have 20 taps to choose from.  We really enjoy the smoked/flash fried wings with chipotle bbq sauce and fancy ranch.  Celebrity Chef Justin Balmes signature item is the Schnitzel- Pastured pork loin, gouda fonduta and “quickled” peaches/strawberry/fennel…try it and thank us later.  http://www.twobirdstaphouse.com/

1. Kouzina Christos

If you like great Pizza and delicious Gyros, then this is your neighborhood place.  We have been going to visit our friend and owner Christos Gainnes for over 14 years, and the food never disappoints.  They’re known quite well for the pizza and gyros, but they also have fantastic seafood specials to include a seared Tuna salad and HUGE grinder sandwiches to satisfy any appetite.  Christos uses the best, locally sourced produce and the tomatoes he gets are the best!   This place feels like home for us and the friendly servers will make you feel that way too.  Opa, as they say!  http://www.kouzinachristos.com/
